Assistant Department Manger

Summit Veterinary Referral Center is hiring an Assistant Department manager

​

We are currently seeking an Assistant Department Manager to join our rapidly growing team. You will work with our veterinary team to ensure they are providing high-quality medical care to both pets and their owners. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be adaptable, have a positive attitude, and a passion for leading people.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the current Senior Department Manager (SDM)

  • Support the supervision of our hospital department staff and their floor supervisors

  • Support with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring for open positions in each department

  • Support with training and development of our staff

  • Work closely with the Medical Director and SDM to create and source appropriate continuing education for staff

  • Assist with creating a monthly schedule for each department

  • Lead by example and model exceptional service for patients and clients

  • Receive and investigate patient care complaints in conjunction with the Client Services Manager, recommend solutions to the Chief Operating Officer, and respond as needed

  • Assist the Inventory Manager in the maintenance of technical/medical inventory

  • Ensure that all staff complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies, according to federal and state law

  • Meet budgetary goals for each department and attend all management meetings

  • Computer:

    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as word processing and spreadsheet software.

    • Ability and willingness to learn our practice management software (Instinct), and to perform clerical work with speed and accuracy

    • Proficient in google platform as well.

Experience:

  • Three (3) years in people management

  • At least One (1) year in veterinary medicine preferred but not required.

​

Benefits:
- Compensation: $65,000-$80,000 annually DOE
