Board Certified Veterinary Technician Specialist

Summit Veterinary Referral Center is hiring Board Certified Veterinary Technician Specialists for our Surgery and Critical Care departments

Job Summary:
As the Board Certified Veterinary Technician Specialist, you will be responsible for anesthetizing animals during complex surgical procedures, training additional LVTs, collaborating with other services, and organizing case rounds and CE presentations.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate must be a Board Certified Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of WA or have the ability to transfer their current license to WA state

  • Possess excellent critical thinking and multitasking skills.

  • They must have a passion for delivering outstanding veterinary care in a fast-paced environment.

  • Communication skills are essential, as well as being a reliable and trustworthy team player with great attention to detail. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Anesthetize complex surgical cases such as pulmonic balloon valvuloplasty, pacemaker implantation and PDA occlusion/ligation

  • Train LVTs on specialty cases and complicated anesthetic procedures

  • Collaborate with services other than surgery to help streamline and improve all aspects of the anesthetic episode

  • Organize hospital-wide case rounds and/or morbidity and mortality rounds and/or journal club

  • Present CE to technicians on various anesthesia topics 3-4 times per year

  • Work closely with the anesthesiologist(s) in overseeing cases that need assistance with anesthesia or analgesia

  • Proper handling and restraint of medically compromised patients

  • Triage and intake skills/TPR

  • Critical thinking in emergency setting

  • Perform technical procedures such as venipuncture, administering IV fluids, and catheter placement.

  • Perform drug calculations, administer controlled and non controlled medications PO, SQ, IM, and IV as directed by the veterinarian.

  • Provide nursing care and treatment to hospitalized patients

  • Assist with advanced imaging (Fluoroscopy/X-ray/Ultrasound/MRI/CT)

  • Communicate with other departments within the hospital or clinic for the overall success of the practice.

Benefits:

  • ***Hiring Bonus Available***

  • Hourly pay range- $33.00 - $44.00 depending on experience

  • Shift differential for any shift hours worked within 6p-6am $3/hr Mon-Thurs and $5/hr Fri-Sun
