Dr. Maggie Mezzles

Dr. Mezzles is a graduate of Ross University and is currently completing her surgery residency at Summit Veterinary Referral Center.  She is enjoying the Pacific Northwest with her husband, Joseph, and two Scottish Folds, Eliza and Angel.  Dr. Mezzles grew up in Texas around all types of animals ranging from cats and dogs to cattle and a donkey.  At the age of 12 she decided to become a veterinarian and never looked back.  Choosing surgery as a specialty has always seemed like an obvious decision.  Even prior to starting vet school, surgery has always been her passion.  The love for surgery has been there ever since she assisted with procedures while shadowing in a clinic growing up, and it has only increased over her career as a veterinarian.

The part about veterinary medicine that is most enjoyable is having the opportunity to make a difference in a life, whether it is a patient or their owner.  Each case is different and brings challenges, but it is an absolute pleasure being allowed to work with so many people and pets.  Dr. Mezzles approaches veterinary medicine like life and believes you must soak up each moment you are given and don’t be afraid to color outside the lines.  On occasion, you have to be willing to go out on a limb, after all, that’s where all the fruit is.
