Veterinary Pharmacy Technician 

Summit Veterinary Referral Center is hiring an experienced Veterinary Pharmacy Technician to work on our team

Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy department by accurately and efficiently preparing and distributing medications to patients. They are responsible for various tasks including order entry, medication packaging, inventory management, and delivering medications to patient care areas. The Pharmacy Technician should possess strong attention to detail and adhere to legal and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Enter inpatient orders/prescriptions into the computer system and prepare medication labels to be verified by the pharmacist.

  • Conduct inspections of medications in patient care area Cubex stations to identify and remove any outdated medications.

  • Package drugs into unit dose packaging and maintain accurate packaging records.

  • Run fill lists and prepare medications for Cubex stations.

  • Deliver medications and IVs to patient care areas, ensuring timely and accurate distribution.

  • Handle controlled substances inventory, including conducting physical inventories and reconciling counts.

  • Enter patient charges and credits into the computer system.

  • Check in the order, processes invoices, credits and backorders. Restocks medication on the shelves as needed and, if needed, purchases medication from suppliers.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas and equipment.


Qualifications:

  • Active WA state LVT License required

  • Previous experience in a veterinary medicine is required

  • Knowledge of medication names, dosages, and pharmaceutical calculations.

  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with prescription order entry systems.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in medication handling and record-keeping.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.

  • Familiarity with legal guidelines and safety regulations in pharmacy practices and controlled substances.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive patient information.

Benefits:

  • Hourly pay range- $24.00 - $35.00 depending on experience

  • Shift differential for any shift hours worked within 6p-6am $3/hr Mon-Thurs and $5/hr Fri-Sun
