The surgical department at Summit Veterinary Referral Center is comprised of Board Certified Small Animal Surgeons, highly trained veterinary technicians, and skilled veterinary assistants. We work as a team, along with your primary care veterinarians and our other specialists to assure your pet receives the very best surgical care available.

All of our surgeons are board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. To become a member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, a veterinarian typically undergoes a one-year rotating internship and a three-year surgical residency. After completing these 4 years of training, the candidate must pass a rigorous 3-day examination. Only veterinarians who have successfully completed the requirements of the ACVS and have passed the certification examination have the right to call themselves Veterinary Surgical Specialist.
