A bit about Dr. Brim

Dr. Matt Brim originally became a veterinarian to make a difference in the lives of his patients and the lives of the people that love them. After becoming the Medical Director of the Emergency and Critical Care department, his focus has widened to include managing Summit’s ECC department, where he works to improve processes and the quality of life for every team member. He’s dedicated to helping to make emergency medicine a fulfilling, sustainable career choice, as well as helping the department as a whole provide the best possible care.

Dr. Brim attended veterinary school at the Western University of Health Sciences, and completed an internship at VCA West Los Angeles. He’s drawn to emergency medicine because it combines a fast-paced work environment with the puzzle-solving aspect of veterinary care. He also appreciates the opportunity to make huge impacts on the health and wellbeing of patients in relatively short periods of time.

The relationships that Dr. Brim builds with clients and coworkers are very meaningful to him. He chose Summit because of its unique ability to provide high-level critical care, as he finds treating the most challenging cases to be particularly rewarding.

Outside of work, you’ll find Dr. Brim in the great outdoors! He enjoys all the activities that the PNW has in abundance - skiing, fishing, hiking, golfing, camping, boating, etc. - but you can lure him inside with a poker night or quality time with friends and family. He has two dogs, a baby pit mix named Bleu and a lab mix named Mozzarella, who, like Dr. Brim, enjoys all things cheese: cheesy jokes, cheesy treats, and cheesy grins.
